William E. Wachenschwanz

William E. Wachenschwanz, age 88 of Doanville, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at his residence.  He was born March 23, 1926 in Doanville, son of the late Gus Wachenschwanz and Bertha Mae Tolliver Wachenschwanz Johnson.

He was a retired painter.  He was also a US Navy veteran of World War II, and was a life member of the Nelsonville VFW Post # 3467.

He is survived by his sons, Bill Wachenschwanz, of Nelsonville, and Dave (Tina) Wachenschwanz, of Doanville; daughter, Debra Wachenschwanz, of Doanville; grandchildren, Christy, Barry, Chris, David, Brooke, Stacy and Amanda; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Joe) Lanning, of The Plains.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers Sylvester, Charles, Robert, Gus, and Fred Wachenschwanz; sister, Barbara Wachenschwanz.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. King Kelly officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery-New Addition.  Military honors will be conducted by the Athens County Combined Color Guard.  Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
