John L. Burns

John L. Burns, 73, of The Plains, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2015 in Nelsonville. He was born October 31, 1941 in Huntington, WV, son of the late Howard Lesley and Pearl Adkins Burns. He was married to Joyce D. Forbes Burns, who survives.

John loved his life in the wood industry. He was a member of the Ohio Forestry Association and the Athens Country Club.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two daughters, Jonna Deane Burns and Jayne Burns both of The Plains; grandchildren, Hayley Hobbs and John Michael Hobbs; brother, Howard (Donna) Burns of Heath; sisters-in-law, Carolyn (Gene) Crane of Logan and Sandra Coen of Logan; nephews, Doug (Gabby) Crane of Logan and Jason (Becky) Coen of Rockbridge; nieces, Terri (Jerry) Cunningham of Athens, Susan Weida of Oxford and Peggy Burns of Heath; cousin, Danny Hensley of Guysville; special friends, Mick Howdyshell, Dick Hardwood, Paul McIntosh, Jeff Kessler and many more.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Jeremy Coen and parents-in-law, Ed and Florence Forbes.

John’s wishes were to be cremated. No services will be held. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
