Mary Edith Embree, of St. Augustine, Florida, formerly of Logan, Ohio, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at her home. She was born June 9, 1917 in Logan, Ohio, daughter of the late Earl and Edith Inbody Howdyshell. She was the widow of Francis Marion Embree, who passed away in 1976.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mary Evelyn “Mimi” Embree, her sister Jean Howdyshell Wheeler and many much loved cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ellen Howdyshell Lehman.
She was a graduate of Buckeye State College and served for many years as Hocking County Ohio’s County Engineer’s Deputy. She was a Past Matron of Venus Chapter #76 Order of the Eastern Star. She was a faithful Methodist and served the church throughout her life. She enjoyed her family and was very fond of the caregivers who made the last chapter of her life comfortable and cheerful.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Rev. Richard Mayer officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge.
She has requested no flowers, but would greatly appreciate contributions be made in her memory to Northeast Florida Community Hospice, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, Florida, 32257.
