Charles "Ray" Woolum

February 16, 1935 — March 5, 2015

Charles ”Ray” Woolum, 80, of Glouster, passed away Thurday, March 5, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born February 16, 1935 in Galia County, son of the late Charles E. and Amy E. Henson Woolum Martin. He was married to JoAnn Smith Woolum of Glouster, who survives.

Ray served in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired from Good Inc. in Athens. He loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a kindhearted man who loved to play the guitar and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His devotion to his wife, JoAnn, was second to none; he would visit her every day at Hickory Creek Nursing Home.

He is survived by his sons, Jonnie Ray Woolum of Glouster, Randy (Molly) Woolum of The Plains and Shane (Tonya) Zornes of Coshocton; daughters, Connie Lucas of Logan, Kim (Doug) Stiverson of Lancaster, Kristy Woolum of Millersport, Deborah (Brian) Eubank of Proctorville and Clara (Scott) Speigle of Pensacola, FL; 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; brothers, Ed (Judy) Martin, Richard (Juanita) Martin, Robert (Irene) Martin all of Glouster and Jacob (Sue) Martin of PA; sisters, Pauline Kennedy of Summit Station, Sharon (Gene) Shover and Shirley (Bob) Shover both of Glouster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Woolum; sister, Elsie Woolum; grandson, Randall Woolum Jr.; step-father, Clifford Martin and a step-brother Howard Martin.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main St., Glouster with Rev. Rocky Brown officiating. Interment will be at Hilltop Cemetery in Millfield with a Military Graveside Service conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit. Friends may call Tuesday, from 5-8 PM, at the funeral home.
