Ronnie D. McKibben, 64, of Chauncey, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born June 6, 1950, in Athens, son of the late Rolland Sr. and Elizabeth Jean Milliron McKibben. He was married to Emma C. Staley McKibben, who survives, for 46 years.
Ronnie served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He retired after 30 years from the Ohio National Guard as well as 30 years at Ohio University, where he was the President of Union Local 1699. He was currently employed as an Engineer for Southeastern Correctional Institute. He was a life member of The Plains VFW and a member of the Athens American Legion Post 21. He own and operated McKibbens Taxidermy for over 30 years and formerly owned the Quik Stop in Chauncey.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Chad (Denise) McKibben of Athens; grandchildren, Cory, Cole and Chloe McKibben; brother, Rolland Jr. “Buddy” (Susie) McKibben of Coolville; nephew, Mike McKibben of Coolville and a niece, Emma (Robert) Peck of Athens.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Walter and Alma Staley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition in Nelsonville where a Military Graveside Service will be conducted. Friends may call Tuesday, from 6-8 PM, at the funeral home.
