Mary Ellen (Hopkins) Swackhammer, 83, of Lancaster, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster. She was born July 9, 1932 in Maxville, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles Henry and Gladys Violet Sater Hopkins. Mary was the widow of the late Charles Richard Swackhammer.
She was a member of the Olivedale Senior Citizens Center and Women of The Moose in Logan.
Mary is survived by her children, Ann (Clayton Pittman) Winland of Lancaster and Ida (Craig Calahan) Currier of Lancaster, Rhesa Penrod of Columbus and Candy Gray of Lancaster, Keith Gray of Georgia, Mike Gray of Columbus, Lee Gray of Florida and Roger; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Hopkins of Logan and sisters, Martha Poling of Logan and Sharon Carter of Homosassa, Florida.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles, Clarence, Robert, Donald, William, Harold and George and sisters, Blanche, Rosie, Anna, Geraldine, Margie, Shirley, Virginia and Linda.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2015 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Pastor Roy Maple officiating. Interment will be in Olive Cemetery, Perry Township, Hocking County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 5-8 p.m.
