Ora “Payton” Gambill, 81, of Port Ritchie, Florida, formerly of Columbus, passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Marliere Hospice Care Center in New Port Ritchie, Florida. He was born December 1, 1933 in West Liberty, Kentucky, son of the late Willie and Dockie Lewis Gambill. Payton was married to Linda Stover Gambill, who survives.
He was a retired independent truck driver and an Army Veteran.
Payton is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Fred) Ives of Zaleski and sisters, Mary Collins of New Port Ritchie, Florida, Hazel (Billy) Perkins of West Liberty, Kentucky and Callie Ball of St. Paris, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Anthony and Randy Lee Gambill.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2015 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor David Peoples officiating. Private burial will take place in Elk Cemetery, McAthur, at a later date. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Ora “Payton” Gambill to HPH Hospice Foundation, 12107 Majestic Blvd., Hudson, Florida, 34667.
