Mary A. Acord

Mary A. Acord, 82, of Creola, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at her residence. She was born September 25, 1932 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Charles E. and Etta L. McKnight Boring. Mary was the widow of the late Alden Acord Sr.

She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Mary is survived by her son, Alden (Dawn) Acord Jr. of Creola; daughters, Mary Jane (Phillip) Stanley of Iuka, Mississippi, Carolyn (Tom) Bakies of McArthur and Ronda (Raymond) Amerine of Creola; fifteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; special nieces, Beverly and Rochelle and daughter-in-law, Sharon Acord.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death her son, Ronald Acord; daughter, Rosanne Acord Bakies; brothers, Russell, Clarence and Charles Boring Jr. and a sister, Zelma Smith.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Larry Acord officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m.
