Rev. David J. Myers

November 17, 1944 — August 1, 2015

Rev. David J. Myers was born November 17, 1944 in Columbus Ohio, the only child born to John R. Myers and Ollie Edna (Unger) Myers. He departed this life and went home to be with Jesus on August 1, 2015. He was raised in a home where Bible reading and prayer were practiced regularly, and gave his heart to the Lord at a very young age. It was evident that God had special plans for his life. He started preaching at the young age of 8 and received calls regularly to preach in surrounding churches. He continued holding services through his teen years. After graduating from Logan High School (1962), he pursued ministerial studies. He was ordained in 1967 by General Superintendent, Dr. Hugh C. Benner, on the Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene.

David and Linda (Gastin) were married in 1966. Together they traveled in full-time evangelistic work for 10 years before beginning his pastorates. He was the Senior Pastor of Vermilion Church of the Nazarene, Obetz Church of the Nazarene and Norwood Wesleyan Church. He also preached and served as song evangelist in a number of churches and camp meetings across denominational lines.

David is survived by his wife, Linda, to whom he had been married for 48 years. He is also survived by his two sons, David K. (Janie) of Pickerington, Kevin E. (Polly) of Logan; six grandchildren, Christopher, Sydney and Logan of Pickerington; and Curtis, Alex and Katlynn of Logan, and two step-grandchildren, Ethan and Alexis Gray of Logan. He is survived by brother-in-law, David Gastin (Nancy) of Pataskala, and uncle, Jim Myers (Charlotte) of Logan, and uncle, Rev. Elwood Stuart of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 5, 2015 in The Logan Church of the Nazarene, 650 Walhonding Ave., Logan, with Dr. Thomas Hermiz and Rev. Thomas L. Gates II officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge. Friends may call at The Logan Church of the Nazarene on Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E.
