Regina M. “Jean” Mitchell, age 57, of Malta, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2015 at her residence. She was born September 20, 1957 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Sherman L. and Wanda (Perry) Cunningham.
She worked closely with her husband and was part owner of M&M Maintenance; she worked for Battelle in Columbus and Hunter Rentals in Athens; Life member of VFW, ladies auxiliary, in Jacksonville she was a “Gold Star Mother” and was a Hunter Educator with ODNR.
Jean is survived by loving husband, Edward James Mitchell; children Edward James Mitchell II, William Joseph (Jennifer Hennen) Mitchell, Wayne Fredrick (Tina) Mitchell and Regina Marie (Ronald) Helle; step children Charles Edward (Ronda) Mitchell, Angela (William House) Mitchell and Betsey (Erik Robbins) Mitchell; 37 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers Sherman “Buddy” (Teresa) Cunningham, Lee (Alice) Bartlett, Curtis (Lisa) Bartlett and Clarence “Clay” (Debbie) Cunningham Jr.; sisters Christal (Bill) Ray and Kim (James) Stump.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Staff Sergeant Curtis A. Mitchell in 2005, infant son “JJ” and brother Scott Cunningham.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM, Wednesday, August 19 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev Michael Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at East Branch Cemetery, Malta. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, Monday, August 17 at Jerry Spears Funeral Home, 2693 West Broad St., Columbus, Ohio 43204 and 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday, August 18 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, Nelsonville where a VFW Ladies Auxiliary service will be conducted at 7:30.
