Opal M. Whitmer

Opal M. Whitmer, 78, of New Straitsville, passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at Logan Health Care Center. She was born November 16, 1936 in West Virginia, daughter of the late Louis and Elder Bowen Pennington. She was the widow of the late Charles Whitmer.

Opal is survived by a son, Terry Whitmer of New Straitsville; grandchildren, Michael Whitmer of Columbus and Nikkia (Tony) Hunter of Logan; great grandson, Jayden Hunter; brothers, Lee Pennington of Arizona and Mickey Pennington of Florida; sisters, Debbie (Mike) Burg of Columbus and Wanda (Floyd) West of Columbus; daughter-in-law, April Whitmer of Logan and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Louis Pennington Jr. and sisters, Betty Barker and Mable Stubbs.

Mrs. Whitmer’s wishes were to be cremated. No services will be held.
