Bernice L. Daugherty

Bernice L. Daugherty, 94, of McArthur, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 at her residence. She was born August 29, 1921 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Elmer and Carrie Dearth Allman. Bernice was the beloved widow of the late Paul Daugherty.

She retired from the Vinton County Health Department as a home health aid, was a member of the First Christian Church in McArthur and also the Circle of Ruth at the First Christian Church. She was an avid quilter and devoted her life to her family.

Bernice is survived by her daughters, Gerry Ryan of McArthur and Brenda Fayad of Columbus; grandchildren, Patricia (Dan) Mercer-Yahini of Athens, Cynthia Dixon of McArthur, David (Theresa) Mercer of McArthur and Paul (Audrey) Fayad of Morengo, Ohio and grandchildren, Andrea, Bradley, Alex, Naomi, Tylan, Domonic and Adam.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Ashley Mercer; two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 2, 2015 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Elder Chuck Fri officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call Wednesday, at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service.
