Vernon R. Brown, 89, of Londonderry, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe. He was born December 3, 1925 in Londonderry, son of the late Elmer W. and Florence Ackley Brown.
Vernon is survived by his brother, Forrest Brown of Londonderry; one sister, Evelyn Reser of Sabina; his children, Charlotte (Charles) Fri of McArthur, Cheryl Brown Clark of Kingston and Charon K. Brown of Londonderry; grandchildren, Carla (Lee) Rowley of Westerville and Garth Fri of McArthur and great grandchildren, Kaylyn and Kolbie Fri.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis Bail Brown; an infant son; sister, Blanche Short and great granddaughter, Aria Rowley.
Vernon was an honorably discharged Veteran serving in the Army in WWII. After returning home from the service, he began his life long love of farming which he continued until his death. Vernon was an active member of the Liberty Township Honor Guard and Ross County Farmers Club. He attended Pleasant Valley Trinity Church and was a 50 year Masonic Lodge member.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, September 10, 2015 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Londonderry Cemetery, Londonderry, with military graveside services being conducted by the Ross County Veteran Honor Guard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m.
