James L. Winnett, 89, of Londonderry, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 at his residence. He was born December 30, 1925 in Kimberly, Alabama, son of the late Ossie Daniel and Audrey Brannon Winnett. James was married to the late Mary Frances Stevens Winnett.
He was a retired truck driver, mechanic and former Eagle Township Trustee. James was also a WWII Navy Veteran and an Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his sons, Matthew J. Winnett, Leslie (Tonya) Winnett and Shawn Winnett, all of Londonderry and James L. (Vicki) Winnett Jr. of Alabama; daughters, Walca Joan (Kenneth) Bright of Batesville, Mississippi, Carmela (Joe) Eveland of South Bloomingville; Holly (James) Clary of Londonderry and Martha (Mark) Hogeland of Alabama; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and sisters, Mary (Bob) Terry of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Nellie (Edgar) Niblett of Trafford, Alabama and Clovestine (Floyd) Bradford of Warrior, Alabama.
In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by his sons, Timothy L. and Douglas B. Winnett; brothers, Tommy Ray, John Wesley, Ossie Jr. and Ronnie Winnett and sister, Kathryn Goodwin.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, November 6, 2015 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery, Eagle Township, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m.
