Dorothy Belle Johnson, 80, of Carbon Hill, passed away on November 4, 2015 in Carbon Hill. She was born on November 21, 1934 in Hocking County, daughter of the late William J. and Dorothy A. Helber Beavers. She was the widow of the late Wilbur Lonice Johnson, after 43 years of marriage.
Dorothy retired from Goodyear after 25 years where she was a union representative. She also sold Avon for more than 30 years. Her greatest joy was children. She also enjoyed photography, bird watching, crossword puzzles and Andy Griffith sitcoms. Dorothy was very independent and became a “crack shot” with a rifle.
She is survived by five sons, Lonice (Diana) Johnson, Wesley (Linda) Johnson, Duane (Wendy) Johnson all of Nelsonville, Kevin (Cindy) Johnson of Wilmington, and James (Brenda) Johnson of Carbon Hill; two daughters, Diann Duncan of Athens and Lisa (Kevin) Martin of Carbon Hill; twelve grandchildren, including one in home granddaughter, Jennifer (William) Bauer of Albany; nineteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; six sisters; three brothers and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, a brother and a grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Minister James Barnett officiating. Interment will be at New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
