Lester “Max” Bishop, 72, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital in Athens. He was born October 19, 1943 in Logan, Ohio, son of the late John and Eileen Hartley Bishop. He was married to Joyce L. Savely Bishop, who survives, for 47 years.
Max was a retired Equipment Operator for American Electric Power Company after 45 years of service. He was a Vietnam Army Veteran and was a member of Loyal Order of Moose, Logan #873, Life Member AM Vets, Logan, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Murray City and Nelsonville Elks BPOE #543, member of VFW, Nelsonville #3467 and American Legion #0229 where he was the Past Commander. He loved his Vietnam Brothers and had yearly gatherings and reunions with them.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children, Lesley (Brady) Justice of Logan and Max Bishop of Nelsonville; beloved grandchildren Jordan and Jared Justice and Karlie, John and Haylie Bishop and many special friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Anthony “Tony” Russell.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday November 13, 2015 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor Josh Roberts officiating. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
