Elnora Winifred Pinney

Elnora Winifred Pinney, age 86, went to be with our Lord on November 30, 2015. She was a resident of the Springfield Masonic Community in Springfield, Ohio.

Elnora is survived by her husband, Clyde Wesley Pinney of the Springfield Ohio Masonic Community; sister Louise Bentley Salyer of Beaver, Ohio; daughter, Carolyn (James) Brannan of Brentwood, California; Gary (Dory) Pinney of Springfield, Ohio; and Randy (Linda) Pinney of Cypress, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; loving in-laws; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon (1956); her father and mother, Oscar and Lona Ross of Beaver, Ohio; two brothers, Robert C. Ross of Chillicothe, Ohio and Roy E. Ross of Beaver, Ohio; and one sister, Rosalie Hartley of Beaver, Ohio.

Elnora was born on May 2, 1929 in Kenova, West Virginia, to parents Oscar and Lona (Patrick) Ross. She and her sisters grew up singing in the church. At the age of 16, she and her family moved to Lake Hope, Ohio where she met the love of her life, Clyde Wesley Pinney. They went to Zaleski High School together and were married in 1947. In 1957, they moved to Dayton, Ohio where over the years she was a loving wife and stay-at-home mom, a Nursing Assistant in Pediatrics at Miami Valley Hospital, and for many years, an employee of the Duriron Company. Elnora was a social, active woman who was involved in many community charities. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and singing, especially bluegrass and gospel music. Her family and friends will always remember her as a very loving and witty woman, and a wonderful cook. Elnora and Clyde celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on November 1, 2015.

The family would like to thank her many long-time friends of McArthur and Zaleski, Ohio; her new friends of Springfield; the entire staff at the Springfield Masonic Community for their loving care; the Reverends Vincent and Farr; and Cornerstone Hospice for their emotional and spiritual support.

Funeral services to honor Elnora will be Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Noon in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, Ohio. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until time of services, officiated by Elnora’s nephew, Pastor Charles R. Ross. She will be laid rest in the Keeton Cemetery at Lake Hope, Ohio.
