Rolland R. Hanson

Rolland R. Hanson, 69, of Nelsonville, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at The Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born March 25, 1946 in Jacksonville, son of the late Elwood and Theresa Barrett Hanson.

Rolland began working at a hand car wash at a young age. He then worked at a sawmill just outside of Nelsonville and the Pepsi plant in Athens before moving to Bell Drilling, where he ended his career. He loved Dodge Trucks and enjoyed pulling floats in the parades during the Parade of the Hills festival in Nelsonville, for many years.

Rolland is survived by his son, Jeremy (Hayli Guiler) Hanson of Waterford; brother, Pat Hanson of Glouster; sisters, Barbara Rollins, Ruth Ann Hanson and Suzan (John) Wagner, all of Nelsonville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Hanson.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, December 18, 2015 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
