Phyllis Ann Maccombs

Phyllis Ann Maccombs, 84, of Nelsonville, passed away Monday, December 28, 2015 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. She was born March 12, 1931 in Athens County, daughter of the late Raymond and Venice Marie Howard Humphrey. Phyllis was married for 60 years to Wilford G. “Popeye” Maccombs.

She was a member of the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church. Phyllis was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by her sons, Ray (Debra) Maccombs, Max Maccombs and Rex (Beth) Maccombs, all of Nelsonville; daughters, Sue Ellen (David) Foote of Geneva, Ohio and Lea Marie (Steve) McKinley of Bluffton, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tessa, Shana, Kyle, Myra, Cody, Sara, Jeffrey, Dalton, Isaac and Carrie and fourteen great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Humphrey and sister, Wilberta Smart.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2015 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Interment will be in Connett Cemetery, Athens County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m.
