Carl Cunningham

Carl Cunningham, 73, of The Plains, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. He was born February 18, 1942, son of Carl V. and Eileen Glass Martin and Loretta Maffin Cunningham and stepfather, Pearly Cunningham.

Carl worked as a jack of all trades. In his younger years, he worked at a Chevrolet garage as a mechanic, auto body man and wrecker driver. He then drove a cab for the late Don Smith at Norway Cab and worked in few sawmills. Later in life he worked at Jack Oakley’s Snow Fork Farm and at Jay and Miki Brooks’ East Clayton Farm doing maintenance.

Carl is survived by his daughters, Carla Iscrupe and Chuck Grant of The Plains, to whom he gave his blessing in marriage, Melissa (Eddie) Cooper of New Marshfield and Stacie (Mike) Blevins of Logan; grandchildren, Jeff Cunningham, Michael Murphy (Stephanie Vlasich, Jessica Murphy (Dearold Sealey), Penny Scurlock (Johnny Spears), Michelle (Danny) Sealey, Ryan Cooper (Paige McDonald), Jamie Kidwell, Dianna Canter (Zack Foraker), Ashley Blevins; great grandchildren, Kisor, Keria, Zoey, Kayleigh, Oliver, Gracie, Jadelyn, Brooklyn, Madisyn, Isayah, Jr, Austin, Trenton, Hayden, Braylen, TaylinAustin, Shyanna, Kayla and Ayden; brothers, Buck (Lola) Cunningham of Glouster and Buzzy (Susie) Cunningham of Nelsonville; sisters, Bonnie Lipps of New Philadelphia, Shirley (Herschel) Snider of Murray City, Bonnie Berry (Homer Mourn), Mary Jo Edwards (Andy Allen) and Tina (Steve) Varner all of Nelsonville; his former wife and mother of his daughters, Ruth Cunningham and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Pearly Jr., Leroy and Thomas Cunningham, sisters, Pearl (Mike) McGrath, Kay (Bill) Buckey and Loretta Cunningham.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. King Kelly officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery New Addition, Nelsonville. Friends may call Sunday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in memory of Carl Cunningham be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
