Karen S. Owings

Karen S. Owings, 68, of McArthur, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. She was born December 22, 1947 in Vinton County, daughter of the late John and Mary Bethel Sowers.

Karen retired from the Vinton County School District as a Teachers Aid. She supported and loved her grandchildren in everything they did.

She is survived by her sons, Raymond (Johnna) Owings Jr., Bryan Owings and Richard (Trudy) Owings all of McArthur; daughter, Pam (Earl) Jarvis of Ray; sixteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brothers, Jim Sowers of McArthur, Bob Sowers of Ray, Mike Sowers of McArthur and Dave Sowers of McArthur; sister, Joyce Lynch of Gahanna; Uncle Merle Bethel of McArthur and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, John Sowers Jr. and Larry Sowers and her former husband, Raymond Owings Sr.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 5-8 p.m.
