James D. Mclin

October 14, 1961 — January 29, 2016

James D. McLin, 54, of Logan, passed away January 29, 2016 at home, surrounded by his family. He was born October 14, 1961 in Findlay, son of the late Darwin H. and Cora McGomery McLin. He was married to Ericka Gerken McLin, who survives.

Jim was a beloved emcee and the voice of the Moonshine Festival. He was a fixture at local events including the Washboard Festival and tractor pulls at the Hocking County Fair. Jim was a popular radio personality, most notably as the Morning Madman on WYNO in Nelsonville. An enthusiastic Kiwanis member, he earned the Hixson award for his outstanding commitment to community service. He looked forward to organizing the Winter Hike, Easter egg hunt, and Halloween parade every year, and of course manned the microphone at them all. Jim worked as an X-ray technologist at Hocking Valley Community Hospital. He had a way of connecting with his patients and putting them at ease, and many remembered him for his warmth and caring. Jim was a family man who enjoyed fishing, CB radio, and all things Jeep. He collected jokes like fine wines, always entertaining everyone around him. Jim genuinely loved people and will be greatly missed by the countless people whose lives he touched.

In addition to his wife, Ericka, he is survived by his children, Drew (Jennifer) Koontz of Bremen, Zach (Lexi Cottrill) McLin and Jesse McLin both of Logan; grandchildren, Kaley, Heather, Trinity, Vera, Mary and Isaac; sisters, Patricia (Will) Lutgen of Roscoe, Illinois and Deborah (Bruce) Humphreys of Australia and parents-in-law, Jerry (Mary) Gerken of Logan.

Jim’s wish was to be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, February 5, 2016 at Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the funeral home.
