Harold E. Lowery

Harold Lowery, 80, of Nelsonville, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Ohio Health O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. He was born July 28, 1935 in Athens County, son of Morris and Edith Smith Lowery. He was married to Esther E. Dickerson Lowery, who survives, for 62 years.

Harold was the owner of Lowery Trucking for 40 years and was a member of Operating Engineers Local #18 for 30 years.

In addition to his wife, Esther, he is survived by daughters, Rebecca Gallagher of Nelsonville, Tracey (Bob) Dupler of Longstreth and Terri Savely (Tony Burchfield) of Nelsonville; special nephew, Mark Lowery of Greens Run; grandchildren, James Lowery Gallagher of Pickerington, Tara Dupler (Jay Smathers) of Chauncey, Shaun Patrick Gallagher of Nelsonville and Amy (Michael) O’Nail of Longstreth; great grandchildren, Conner, Caleb, Kylee, Gavin, Christian, Collin, Emiline and Gunner; sisters, Edna Mae Levering of Nelsonville and Diane (Larry) Pidcock of New Marshfield and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Morris Jr., Kenneth and Thomas Lowery and sisters, Phyllis Mae and Janis Lowery and Evelyn Buffington.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev Ed True officiating. Interment will be at Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
