Daniel L. Bates

Daniel L. Bates, 75, of Pickerington, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus. He was born September 21, 1940 in McArthur, son of the late Daniel Austin and Zella Nickels Bates.

Dan was a retired civil engineer and an Army Veteran. He enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren, baseball, working on cars, tinkering and was known for his extraordinary handy man work.

Dan is survived by Bonna Bates; son, Daren (Carrie) Bates of Pickerington; daughter, Natalie (Paul) Bordner II of Baltimore; six grandchildren, Samuel, Daniel, Meredith, Noevalee, Paul Gerald and Cole and a brother, Charles “Dick” (Missy) Bates of Glendale, Arizona.

Private services will be held and interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
