Melvin Seitz

Melvin Seitz, 68, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 3, 1948 in Vinton County, son of the late Chester Ray and Ruth Mae Inboden Seitz Sr.

Melvin retired from Mercer Sawmill as a log buyer and served as a Jackson Township Trustee for 14 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Alice Clary Seitz; children, Jesse (Phyllis) Patterson of Chillicothe, Robert Patterson of Atlanta, Kathy (Larry) Dyer of Chillicothe, Rhonda (Norman) Weethee of Washington Courthouse and Rocky (Myra) Patterson Sr. of Atlanta; grandchildren, Robert (Angie) Patterson, Jennifer (Jerry) Williams, Rhonda (Larry) Fisher, Valerie (Jon) Campbell, Angelena Patterson, Rocky (Crystal) Patterson Jr., Amy (Tony) Patterson, Shannon (Mike) Nunemaker, Johnny (Danielle) Patterson, Jarrod (Abby) Patterson, Hypashia (Kyle) Baxter, Clara (Aaron) Litchfield, Codi Patterson and Emily Patterson; great grandchildren, Jesse, Shelby, Blake, Bradley, Dylan, Luke, Trey, Kylie, Calen, Austin, Alysen, Ashton, Livia, Annabelle, Aidan, Elijah, Isabelle, Mason, Makayla, Josie, Jon, Kennedy, Erin, Sarah, Grant, Corey, Braylon, Tanner, Alex, Lily, Trinity, Neveah and Makayla (Harley) Price; one great great granddaughter, Ryelyn; brothers, Chester (Sandy) Seitz Jr. and Roy Seitz and sister, Vivian Whightsel.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by a brother, Ray Seitz Sr.; daughter-in-law, Carol Patterson and a special uncle, Ivan Seitz.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, February 29, 2016 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Wes Gallaugher officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Vinton County. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, from 4-8 p.m.
