Lawrence M. Peters, 80, of Zaleski, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at his residence. He was born March 15, 1935 in Vinton County, son of the late Murle and Maggie Allman Peters. Lawrence was married to Sandra Rice Peters, who survives.
He retired as the owner of LMP Machine Shop in Zaleski. Lawrence was the former Pastor of the Wellston Freewill Baptist Church and attended Union Ridge Pilgrim Holiness Church.
He is survived by his sons, Lawrence R. “Larry” (Kathy) Peters of Logan and Mark (Sheri) Peters of McArthur; daughters, Barb (Thomas) VanGundy of Toledo, Theresa (Hiram) Mace of McArthur and Mary Thomas of Cincinnati; twelve grandchildren, Scott, Christina, Kathryn, Emily, Haleigh, Lawrence Benjamin, Brooklyn, Adam, Andrew, Luke, Leanna “Annie” and Gracie; five great grandchildren, Ariel, Matthew, Victoria, Nina and Lyza; brothers, Denver (Sue) Peters, Delmer (Octa Mae) Peters and Gaylord (Florence) Peters and a sister, Frances (Arthur) Allison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Annabelle Peters and granddaughter, Amy Ringhiser.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Union Ridge Pilgrim Holiness Church, Vinton County, with Pastor Roger Hatfield officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Zaleski. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday, one hour prior to the services at the church.
