Richard L. Johnson

Richard L. Johnson, 75, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at his residence. He was born October 11, 1940 in Hocking County, son of the late Gilbert and Betty Jane Womsley Johnson. Richard was married to Cindy Pickett Johnson, who survives.

He retired from the City of Nelsonville. Richard was a 50 year Mason, a member of Paramuthia Lodge #0025, Aladdin Temple Shrine, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Order of Eastern Star Thea Lodge #192. He was also a member of the Nelsonville Elks BPOE #543, a member of Kountry Resort Campground in Racine, Ohio, the Logan Moose and OPERS Club of Athens.

Richard is survived by his sons, David (Jackie) Johnson of Amesville and Jeremy Johnson of Nelsonville; daughters, Ann Marie (Scott) Clayton of Bellefontaine and Tessie (Andrew) Lyons of Dublin; grandchildren, Hannah, Justin and Whitney Clayton, Kyle Johnson and Capote Springer; brother-in-law, Jim (Dorothy) Pickett of Nelsonville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul G. Johnson.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 in the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. where a Masonic service will be held at 6:30p.m. and an Elks service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
