Clifford J. “Eppie” Saltz, 76, of McArthur, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born December 1, 1939 in Vinton County, son of the late Kenneth D. and Helen Mason Saltz. Eppie was married to the late Sharon VanCooney Saltz.
He was a retired truck driver for Austin Powder Company and was a farmer. Eppie was a member and trustee of the McArthur United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Delta Lodge #207 F&A.M. Masonic Lodge in McArthur, the Aladdin Temple Shrine, Hillbilly Shrine, Scottish Rite Valley of Columbus, and the Ohio Eastern Star.
Eppie is survived by his son, James Mason “J.M.” Saltz of McArthur; brothers, Thomas F. Saltz of Richmond, Virginia and Tim (Kaye) Saltz of Amory, Mississippi; sisters, Clara J. Waldron of McArthur, Rosemary (Richard) Rueda of Pace, Florida, Anna Belle Saltz of Athens, Sara (Roy) Gregory of Maryville, Tennessee and Jeanie (Jim) Keiser of McArthur and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Clarence Allen Saltz.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 in the McArthur United Methodist Church, 200 S. Market St., McArthur, with Rev. Dr. Walt Goble officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Tuesday, from 5-8 p.m. where a Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
