Bertina “Tina” Bowman Hurt, aged 83, went home to be with her Lord. She passed peacefully on May 18, 2016 in her home in Washington Court House with her family at her side. Bertina and her twin sister, Westina, were born on April 14, 1933, in Zaleski, Ohio, the daughter of Norma Lightfoot Napper and Richard Allen Bowman.
In addition to raising her two sons in Grove City, Ohio, she was also a hairdresser, managing a salon at J.C. Penny’s in Columbus until she retired.
Bertina was a loving woman of faith with many wonderful friends. She loved journaling, authored two books, and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Sereno Chapter No. 128. Bertina also attended the Putnam Chapel Church in McArthur, Ohio. Here is a verse from a song she sang in church:
Farther along we’ll know more about it,
Further along we’ll understand why,
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine,
We’ll understand it by and by.
Her brothers, Ivan and Clyde Bowman, and her sisters, Westina Patton and Nora Mae Murray, preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother Clifford Bowman of Washington, C.H., her sons Randall Scott and Harold Willis (Jr.) Bashor of Columbus; two nieces and six nephews; her partner Gene Morrow, and a number of other relatives and close friends.
