Emma Caroline Hamel

Emma Caroline Hamel, 19, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 asa result of an auto accident in Vinton County, Ohio. She was born June 5,1996 in Nurnberg, Germany, daughter of Timothy G. Hamel of Nurnberg,Germany and the late Lisa Renee Foerster.

Emma was a 2014 graduate of Weaver Academy in Greensboro, North Carolina and a student at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon.

In addition to her father, she is survived by aunts and uncles, Robert and Liza Hamel of Grass Lake, Michigan, Gary and Susan Hamel of Boston, Massachusets, Dennis Hamel and Lisa Williams of New Mexico, Martin Hamel and Jennifer Knowles of Seattle, Washington and Joseph Paul Hamel of New York, New York, Peggy and
Evan Lewelling of Tigard, Oregon, Jeff Foerster of Puyallup, Washington and Brad Alsterberg of Tualatin, Oregon; cousins Joel, Willie, Eli and Gabe Hamel, Jason, Tiffany and Emily Lewelling and Steven Alsterberg.

She was accompanied in death by her mother; brother, Thomas Joseph Hamel and aunt, Lorraine Ellen Alsterberg

A memorial service for Emma, her brother, Thomas Joseph Hamel, and their mother, Lisa Foerster, will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church, 69 Mill St., Athens, with Pastor Lynn Miller officiating. Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St. Nelsonville.
