Robert A. Eckels

Robert A. Eckels, 89, of Nelsonville, passed away Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born August 30, 1926 in Hocking County, son of the late Hubert and Helen Dane Eckels. Robert was married for 66 years to the late Evelyn Levins Eckels.

He was a Truck Driver for 63 years and the owner of Bob Eckels Trucking. Bob lived life on his own terms. He worked hard and was a dedicated family man and business owner. He is greatly loved and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his sons, Jimmy (Susan) Eckels of North Canton, Joe (Mary Lou) Eckels of Groveport and Jay B. Eckels of Nelsonville; 11 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and a brother, Jerry (Bonnie) Eckels of Lancaster; special friends, Marty, Alan, Jeff, Bob and Tracy.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Julianne and Jean Marie and an infant brother, Hubert.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Carbon Hill Cemetery with Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. Friends may call at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, on Friday, from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M.
