Wanda “Jean” Ball, 85, of Chauncey, passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Glouster. She was born August 15, 1930 in Chauncey, the daughter of the late John and Lena Smith Schoonover.
She retired from the Athens School System as a cook in 1983. Member of Chauncey Community Church; Senior Citizens Friendly Circle, Sisters Club of Chauncey and was a volunteer and grandparent for Head Start, Community Action.
Jean is survived by loving daughter and care giver Debbie (Barry) Lowery of Glouster; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; son-in law, Lane Sams of Chauncey and sister-in-law, Bonnie Schoonover of The Plains.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Darlene Frazier and Sherrie Sams; brother, Bill Schoonover; sisters, Marcella and Barbara and grandson, Bryan Ball.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with the Rev. Gary Alton officiating. Interment will be at Hilltop Cemetery in Millfield. Friends may call from 11:00 AM, until the time of service, at the funeral home.
