Betty J. Deal

Betty J. Deal, 90, of Jacksonville, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016, at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital, Athens. She was born July 9, 1925, in Athens County, daughter of the late William and Sarah Shepard Tinkham. She was the widow of the late Walden “Snack” Deal.

She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Glouster, a life member of the VFW post 9866 Auxiliary in Jacksonville, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in Athens and the Athens County Democratic Party.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Charles) Shafer of Pataskala, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and a nephew, John Kinney of Ravenna.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by one son, Charles Scott Funk; four brothers and three sisters.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 31 Republic Ave., Glouster with Father Christopher Foxhoven officiating. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Glouster. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main Street, Glouster.
