John R. Lent

John R. Lent, 68, of Rockbridge, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 at the James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute in Columbus after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born November 16, 1947 in Columbus, son of the late Lena Huffman Lent. John was married for 27 years to Janet Robinson Lent, who survives.

He was a self-employed Window Contractor and a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War. John was a loving husband, father and grandfather whose life was motivated by taking caring of his family. He was an avid fisherman and an accomplished storyteller who never met a stranger.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by daughter, Denice (Shawn) Kocher of Hilliard; sons, Dan (Rachelle) Eshelman of Rockbridge and Tim (Jennifer Tipple) Eshelman of Logan; grandchildren, Katie, Dakota, Tyler, Ryan, Sylas, Lexi and Madilynn; sisters, Rosalyn “Gay” (John) Robertson of Pensacola, Florida and Patricia (Hayes) Fletcher of Fallsburg, Kentucky and mother-in-law, Carol Robinson of Ashland, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Hayes Fletcher officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard at the funeral home, following the funeral. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of John R. Lent, to the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – James at The Ohio State University Foundation, 1430 West Lane Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43231.
