Gary Lee Covert

Gary Lee Covert, 80, of Rockbridge, went to be with his Lord on Saturday September 3, 2016, leaving behind his loving wife and soul-mate Donna. Gary was born to Orn and Bessie Parry Covert of Nelsonville, Ohio on July 18, 1936.

Gary was a member of Shepherd of The Hills Church in Rockbridge. He was an Army Veteran, and retired from Super Thrift in Logan in May 2000. He was a member of the Southern Ohio Emmaus Community and the Chrysalis Community. Most recent, for the last ten years, Gary has worked at Camp Akita. He used to say, it was the most beautiful place on earth. He loved being there, and loved all the people there.

Gary will be mourned by countless friends, his family, and his church family, who will grieve deeply by his death.

Besides his wife, Gary leaves behind three daughters, Christy (Jon) Mosier of Newcomerstown, Ohio, Susanne (Ed) Castle of Guysville, Ohio and Ashlee (Ryan) Becker of Ogden, Kansas; step-sons, Jeff (Terry) Scott of Atlantic Beach, Florida, Bob (April) Scott of Lancaster, Ohio and Troy Scott of Circleville, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Chris, Michael, Lauren, Alex, Jordan, James, Jacob, Christian, Cameron and Cadence; 7 great-grandchildren, Hailleigh, Madison, Kendal, Reese, Ryen, Nick and Emily; and sister, Cathy (Dan) Druzbacky of Huber Heights, Ohio.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan with Pastor Dan Crawford officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Cemetery, Rockbridge. Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made in lieu of flowers and in memory of Gary Lee Covert to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
