Susan R. Dennis, 65, of Logan, passed into the arms of her Lord on September 17, 2016, at her home, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. She was born June 17, 1951, in East Liverpool, Ohio, daughter of Edgar and Dorothy Jagusch Everhart, of Lancaster, Ohio. Susan was married for 27 years to James Ray Dennis, who survives. She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1969. She earned a certification in X-Ray technology from Fairfield Medical Center in 1971. She was employed by Fairfield Medical Center, Hocking Valley Community Hospital, Logan Home Health, and several local doctor offices. She retired after 32 years as a legal assistant for Lilley and Saving Attorneys at Law.
Susan was a member of First United Presbyterian Church of Logan and actively involved in the music program. She was a member of the Chancel Choir, Handbell Choir, and substitute organist and pianist. Her beautiful, angelic singing voice will be forever remembered. She was a member of the Logan Community Chorus and Hocking County Variety Shows in the 1970’s and 80’s. Susan was also an original member of the 1967 Lancaster Singing Gales of Lancaster High School. She was the Worthy Grand Matron in 2007 of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Grand Treasurer since 2009. Susan was a 33 year member of the Millersport Chapter #301 and has served as Worthy Matron several times.
Susan was a member of Yarn Lovers Unite, a Logan community knitting group that met at Hocking County Library. Many charities and lucky recipients have been blessed by her beautiful handiwork. She loved her many knitting sisters in the group. She and husband Ray have contributed to the Christmas celebration in the community by displaying their very large Fontanini nativity scene in business in downtown Logan for the past four Christmas seasons.
In addition to her parents and husband, Susan is survived by sister, Kim (Debbie) and family of Lancaster, brother, Mark (Renee) of DeMoine, Iowa, Stepchildren daughter Shelly Dennis of The Plains and Bill Dennis of Tampa, Florida,. Brother-in-law, Edgar (Kim) Dennis of Grove City, sister-in-law, Genevieve Gorrell of Dover, nieces and nephews, Nick Everhart, Ashley Studt, Amanda, Alyssa, and Alec Best, great-niece and Godchild, Eisley Studt, very special friend, Maddie Young, her canine babies, Bailey and Brandee, also very special friends who have given so much to her care and loved her as family, Jennifer and Dean Gompf.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 2, 3 P.M. with music 2:00 P.M., at the First United Presbyterian Church on 2 West Hunter Street in Logan. The family will receive friends following the service at Lee's Banquet Haus, 580 Radio Lane, Logan.
