Ralph F. Skivers, 68, of Buchtel, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Pickering House, Lancaster. He was born May 18, 1948 in Logan, son of the late Gerald and Anna Jean Jewett Skivers.
Ralph loved learning. After graduating from Nelsonville High School he also attended and received advanced degrees from Hocking College, Wittenberg University and Ohio University. He worked as an Engineer for many years and was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the 61st Military Police Signal Company in Vietnam where he received many decorations including the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge and the Army Commendation Medal.
Ralph is survived by his daughters, Stacey Skivers of Chauncey and Wendy Skivers of Nelsonville; sons, Ralph “J.R.” Skivers of Hendersonville, TN and Louie (Amanda) Skivers of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Chelsea, Ashlynn, Joseph, Alexander, Tim (Amanda), Ernie, Kaleigh and Kris; great granddaughter, Jesslynn; sisters, Katherine Wharton of Heath and Leora Skivers of Vermillion as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald “Louie” Skivers
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 22, 2016 Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Ernie Perkins officiating. Interment will be at Whitmore Cemetery, Buchtel where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Combined Color Guard Unit and the United States Army. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Friday, October 21, 2016 at the funeral home.
