Rebecca "Becky" L. Hart

October 30, 1960 — October 22, 2016

After 55 years of passionately serving others, Becky Hart passed away surrounded by love on Saturday, October 22, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer. She will be deeply missed by her sister Cathy Hart, partner Bob Rasor, father Gearld Hart and numerous family members and friends. She now joins in heaven her mother Helen Hart (Perry), sister Michele Hart, grandparents Cora and David Perry and grandparents Golda and Ray Hart.

Lives are typically marked by accomplishments and achievements, but Becky's is better measured by the positive, wide reaching impact she had on others' lives. Every facet of her life was unassumingly devoted to helping others. Whether in her professional career, her personal relationships, or her volunteer work, Becky always strived to lift up those around her. She was never one who sought praise, although she often deserved it. She stood as a never-faltering source of kindness, integrity, strength, keen intelligence, charity of heart, friendship, compassion, selfless love, humility and faith to all who knew her.

Becky spent 24 years at the Ohio Credit Union League where she worked passionately to promote credit unions as an accessible and affordable financial services option. She was highly regarded at the local, state, and national level for her contributions to the credit union movement. Her quiet mentorship, servant leadership and unwavering friendship has left an indelible mark on hundreds of her colleagues.

A believer in helping others in any way possible, Becky gave not only financial support but her time to numerous charitable organizations including the Westside Free Store, Ronald McDonald House of Central Ohio, Ohio Credit Union Foundation, Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, and the Southeast Ohio Food Bank. Her willingness to help others could also be seen in her simple gestures, such as offering a ride to someone in the rain.

A celebration of Becky’s life will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, October 29, 2016 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jeff Perry officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 12 p.m. until the time of the service.

Although Becky moved to Columbus after college, Vinton County was always home and held a special place in her heart. Her desire to help people in the county led her to create a fund in honor of her late mother and sister which will be used to assist residents in the areas of domestic violence, higher education scholarships, health care and will make books and library resources available to all. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to these funds through the Foundation of Appalachian Ohio, 35 Public Square, Nelsonville, Ohio, 45764.
