Erick "Clint" Clinton Walker

Erick Clinton (Clint) Walker, 55, of McArthur, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at his residence. He was born May 26, 1961 in McArthur, Ohio, the son of the late Orville Edward Walker and Eileen Jean (Landrum) Walker.

After graduating from Vinton County High School in 1979, he received both a Bachelor of Science degree in education and Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Ohio University and a master’s degree in library and information science from Kent State University.

In addition to working in the family businesses, Clint taught high school English at Vinton County High School and worked for the Vinton County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the College of Health and Human Services, Ohio University. He began his employment for the Herbert Wescoat Memorial Library in McArthur in 2001 and was hired as director in 2005. He was elected a member of the Vinton County Local Board of Education and served a four-year term.

Clint was a member of Golden Key National Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi, American Library Association, Ohio Library Council, Friends of the Library, Friends’ Community Players (FCP), and Vinton County Historical and Genealogical Society.

At the age of eleven, Clint was baptized in the Christian faith at the McArthur Church of the Nazarene, confirmed at Trinity Episcopal Church, and received by profession of faith at St. Sylvester Roman Catholic Church in Zaleski, Ohio, where he served for many years as organist, music and liturgical director, parish council member, and CCD teacher.

Clint is survived by three brothers, Ernest E. (Susan) Walker of Jackson, Terry W. (Linda) Walker, Mark A. (Tony) (Carol) Walker, of McArthur; a sister, Cynthia A. (Walker) Orlowski, a sister-in-law, Pamela (Ward) Walker, a very close friend, Eileen B. Cottrill of McArthur, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Clint was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffrey L. Walker, and a very special cousin, Leah (Siders) Davis.

Clint’s wishes were to have his body taken to The Ohio State University Body Donation Program.  A celebration of life service will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, January 7, 2016 at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, 63849 US Highway 50, McArthur.  Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the church.

Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.
