George E. Lash

George E. Lash, 91, of McArthur, passed away Monday, December 26, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.  He was born August 9, 1925 in Albany, Ohio, son of the late George U. and Bessie Bolen Lash.  George was married to the late Essie Lucille Perry Lash.

He retired from the State of Ohio as a Soil Conservationist, was a member of the First Christian Church in McArthur and the McArthur VFW Post #5299.  George was a WWII Army Veteran, a former Prisoner Of War and was a Purple Heart recipient.

He is survived by his son, George Douglas “Doug” (Ellen) Lash of McArthur; daughters, Patricia “Pat” (Karen Edmunds) Peoples of McArthur, Jean Jackson of Albany and Julie (Michael) Radcliff of Marion; grandchildren, Phillip Lash, Stephanie Blaine, Sarah Norton, Kyle Jackson, Kate Motiani, Eric Radcliff, Kayla Radcliff and Emily Radcliff; great grandchildren, Braydin Jackson, Sophia Norton, Natalie Norton and Luke Norton and sisters, Florence Tackett of Fleming, Ohio and Lorna Peters of Albany.

In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Kevin Jackson; brother, Arthur Lash and sister, Doris Lyles.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2016 in the First Christian Church, 207 E. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Carl Radcliff and Pastor Ron Baxter officiating.  Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299.  Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur on Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of George E. Lash to the First Christian Church, c/o Barb Radekin, 217 N. Pearl St., McArthur, Ohio 45651.
