Clair M. Parsons

Clair Parsons, 89, of Chauncey, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at The Laurels of Athens.  He was born June 2, 1927 in Nelsonville, son of the late Semon Charles and Anna Elizabeth Howard Parsons. He was married to Dorothy Robinson Parsons, who survives, for 68 years.

Clair retired from the United Mine Workers of America. He worked at the Southern Ohio Coal Company.  He graduated from Buchtel High School and was a member of the Nelsonville United Pentecostal Church.

Clair is survived by his grandsons, Brandon (Valerie) Elliott of Athens and Larry (Audra) Rutter of Emigrant, Montana; great grandchildren, Emmy Elliott, Gabrielle Elliott and David Elliott.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Joe Parsons; brother, Jack Parsons; sisters, Marietta Stanley, Gleda Doering and Jessie Hogue.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Rev. Lewis Dunnells officiating.  Interment will be at Connett Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Thursday, January 5, 2017 from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
