Dora Belle Waldeck, 93, of Glouster, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at Kimes Convalescent Center in Athens. She was born November 11, 1923 in Nelsonville, Ohio, daughter of the late Ira and Bessie Deem Slater.
Dora was the former co-owner of the Waldeck Drug Store. She was a member of Oakdale Church of Christ where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She volunteered at Trimble Elementary School, member of TOPS, supported children with bibles and took care of many of her grandchildren. She donated of herself, and was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by daughter, Cinda Lou Umbarger of Athens; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Arthur Wilson and John Waldeck; son, Arthur “Tug” Wilson; daughter, Lila Belle Wilson Campbell; sisters, Ruth, Violet and Garnet; brothers, Ira "Slick" and Hiram; daughter-in-law Trinda Wilson; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday January, 24, 2017 at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 30 Main St., Glouster. Pastor Rodger Powell officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may visit Tuesday from 11-1 PM at the funeral home.
