Nina M. Mcknight

Nina M. McKnight, 86, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at her residence following a lengthy illness.  She was born October 10, 1930 in Buchtel, daughter of the late Frank W. and Nora LaFollette Collins.  Nina was married for 66 years to Virgil McKnight, who survives.

She was the Salutatorian of Buchtel-York High School class of 1948 and was a member of the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church.  Nina was a beloved farm wife and mother. Throughout her life she was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher.

She is survived by her daughters, Christina Houchard of Glouster and Gina (Anthony) D’Andrea of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Joshua (Megan) McKnight of Maryland, Kate (Darren) Houchard-Tatum of Pennsylvania and Anthony D’Andrea of Nelsonville; great grandchildren, David and Madelyn McKnight and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Ellen McKnight; son, David McKnight; great grandchild, Maclaren McKnight; brother, Max Collins and son-in-law, Jack Houchard.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2017 in the Nelsonville Wesleyan Church, with Pastor Mike Thomas officiating.  Interment will be in Dew Cemetery, Buchtel.  Friends may call at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, on Sunday, from 6-8 p.m. and on Monday, one hour prior to the service at the church.
