Jerrie F. Smith

Jerrie F. Smith, 85, of Nelsonville, passed away Saturday, March 25, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  She was born May 12, 1931 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Leslie and Tessie Ervin Cavanaugh.  She was married to Donald R. Smith Sr., who survives, for 54 years.

Jerrie had a warm, inviting smile and everyone she met loved her instantly. She liked working in her yard with her flowers and enjoyed walking and visiting her friends. She also loved spending time in Las Vegas with her husband.

She is survived by her children, Melanie Stanley (Marihelen Hatcher) of Columbus, Mark Stanley of Croton, Leslie (John) Perry, Donnie (Judy) Smith and Wendy (Jeff) Kaaz all of Nelsonville; grandchildren, Justin Stanley of Columbus, Tony Stanley of Georgia, Jamie (Eric) Juniper of Nelsonville, Chris Williams of Lancaster, Jessica Smith of Columbus, Tanner Smith of Nelsonville and Tessa Kaaz of Nelsonville; 6 great grandchildren and her companion German Shepard, Fancy.

In addition to her parents, Jerrie was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 31, 2017 at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville with Pastor David Shoemaker officiating. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Friends may call Thursday, March 30, 2017 from 4-8 PM at the funeral home.
