Agnes Joann Quinn

January 23, 1934 — May 11, 2024

Agnes “Joann” Wright Quinn, 90, passed away peacefully in Port Orange, Florida on May 11, 2024.  Born January 23, 1934, to William and Beatrice (Lantz) Wright, Joann grew up in Murray City, Ohio, was a 1952 graduate of Murray City High School, and lived in the village for over 50 years until she moved to Pickerington, Ohio, where she resided for 35 years. She celebrated 64 years of marriage with her beloved husband, William “Bill” Quinn, with whom she raised four children.

Blessed with a vibrant and outgoing personality, Joann had a passion for life and she was befriended and loved by many. She enjoyed marksmanship, swimming, and other outdoor activities such as boating and camping—all of which she shared with her children and grandchildren.

The consummate adventurer, Joann could always be counted on as a companion to a local restaurant, a friend for a weekend getaway, or a co-pilot on a road trip across the country.

She and Bill made countless memories traveling near and far on their motorcycle, exploring the countryside of Ohio and making numerous cross country treks.  They also shared multiple winters in Florida where they scouted flea markets, attended live concerts, indulged in seafood dinners with friends, and rode their bike along the coast.

Along with her unwavering faith in God, family was at the center of Joann’s life. She relished the time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding ways to forge special relationships and share her unconditional love with each of them. She loved cooking for others (her homemade beef noodles were the signature dish that her family enjoyed the most), and she prided herself on making sure everyone who visited her home was fed and fully cared for, always having the most well-stocked fridges and freezers in town!

In addition to her hospitality and her infectious personality, her family and friends will miss her jovial laugh and the way she could make anyone feel special.

Joann is preceded in death by her parents, William and Beatrice (Lantz) Wright; husband, William “Bill” Quinn; son, William Joe Quinn, and sister, Betty (Charlie) Kinnison.

She is survived by her son, Dan Quinn; daughter, Cinda (Lee) Engelman; son, Dennis (Sandra) Quinn; daughter-in-law, Tina Quinn; nine grandchildren; Crystal (Chris) Groves; Anthony Quinn; Sarah (Jeff) Burke; Brandon Quinn; Sheila (Brian) Perry; Evan (Kacy) Engelman; Ashley Quinn; Lacey Martinez; Daniel “Tyler” Quinn; eleven great-grandchildren, Collin and Wesley Quinn, Adam, Joni, Jack, and Audrey Burke, Owen and Quinton Groves, Jacob and Noah Perry, Jocelyn Martinez; sister, Janet (Raymond) Canter; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, and a funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20, at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home in Nelsonville, Ohio. Internment will immediately follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio.
