Alison Smathers

Alison Smathers, 58, of Buchtel, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at her home. She was born May 5, 1965, in Providence, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late James Mello Jr. and Carol (Dhiel) Taraborelli. Alison was married to Bobby Lee Smathers Jr. who survives.

Alison was an animal lover.  She loved her dogs and rescuing animals. She was a soft hearted, kind, and beautiful person. As a cancer survivor herself, Alison was proud to donate her hair to Locks of Love, to help children suffering from hair loss.

Alison is survived by her husband; daughter, Stefanie Bonanno of Buchtel; 2 grandchildren; and sisters, Jenny (Louie) East Greenwich, Rhode Island, Jessica (Kevin) Rice of Nelsonville, and Alexis Mello of Athens.

Alison was preceded in death by her parents.

Private family services will be held. Arrangements are by the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, Ohio 45764.
