Alvin E. Oney

Alvin E. Oney, 78, of Middleport, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Holzer Meigs Emergency Department in Pomeroy.  He was born January 15, 1939 in McArthur, son of the late Reece Oney and Emma Morrison Stevens.  Alvin was married to Jean M. Claffey Oney, who survives.

He retired from Michael P. Plumbing in Sunbury, Ohio.

Alvin is survived by his son, Calvin (Alberta) Oney of Logan; daughters, Selena (Dan) Brown of Crockett, Texas, Jennifer (Mike) Edelmann of Gallipolis and Beth Dodd of Columbus; grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Alissa, Tyler, Dustin, Crystal, Stephanie, Andrea, Frederick, MiKayla, Kimberly, Nichole, James Jr. and Jessica; great grandchildren, Emilie, Grace and Silas; brother, Floyd (Claudette) Oney of Cape Coral, Florida; sisters, Mary (Skip) Cogley of Ravenna, Ohio, Rita Williams of Grove City, Angela Claggett of Columbus and Sherry Bropst of Columbus and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Alvin E. Oney II and Robert E. Oney and two brothers, Reece Oney and Eugene Oney.

Alvin’s wishes were to have no services.  Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m.
