April Joy White

April Joy White, 54 of McArthur, passed peacefully from this life July 29, 2020 after a gradual decline in health.  She was born April 30, 1966 in Wayne County, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles Clayton and Josephine Wilson White.

Joy earned a Bachelor of Religious Education in 1989 and taught Kindergarten, 1 ^st grade and 2 ^nd grade in North Carolina for approximately 3 years.  She was a Child Development Associate at Head Start in Columbus, OH until 2002.  She then moved to Athens, and subsequently Chillicothe, OH where she worked as a Senior Financial Analyst with the State of Ohio for 18 years.  Joy enjoyed gardening, game nights with family & friends, writing poems & songs, motorcycle riding for several years and organizing fund-raisers so her nieces and nephews could attend private school.  She was sponsor of a high school mission class in NC and continued to support missions via Freedom International Missions in the Dominican Republic each month.

April Joy is survived by siblings, Charles R. White of Allensville, Linda K. White of Albany, Bonny J. Durr of Columbus, Marilyn S. Downing of Lexington, NC, Daniel C. White of McArthur, Rebecca J. White of Creola, Mark A. White of Creola; brothers and sisters-in-laws, Jimmy White, Lyndell Durr, Daniel Downing, Mary G. White, William Castle, Mary V. White and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Lyndell Durr Sr. officiating.  Interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Vinton County.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
