Betty Ruth Murphy, 97, of Cheshire, Ohio, formerly of Vinton County, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at her residence. She was born January 20, 1924, in Vinton County, daughter of the late David and Alice Wyckoff Andrews. Betty was the widow of the late Francis Joseph “Joe” Murphy.
She was a former caregiver and attended Old Kyger Church.
Betty is survived by her sons, Harry (Tami Sech) Murphy, Larry (Carolyn) Murphy and Harold (Tina) Murphy; daughters, Beverly (Jerry) Gee, Mary (Keith) Fee, Bonnie (Allen) Handley, Ruth (James) Green and Alice (Scott) Simms; twenty-nine grandchildren; fifty-five great grandchildren; twenty-two great great grandchildren; sister, June Trainer and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, David “Butch” and Mike Murphy; daughters, Starla Rae Murphy and Joan Boring; grandchildren, Brandon Handley, Scott Tatman, Brian Green and Michael Murphy; great grandchildren, Mark Foley, Damon Boring, and Dakota and John Murphy; brothers, George and John Andrews and sisters, Opal Andrews, Emma Miller, Sarah Riffle and Thelma Patrick
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 29, 2021, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Pastor Charlie Hargraves and Roy Oldaker officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
