Blanche D. Mowery, 97, of Logan, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at the Carlin House in Logan. She was born October 21, 1920 in Logan, daughter of the late William Edward and Bertha Mowrey Fickel. Blanche was married for 65 years to the late Luther W. “Luke” Mowery.
She was the former Clerk for the Hocking County Commissioners and also worked at Curtis Wright during WWII and Pratts Studebaker in Logan, where she met her husband. Blanche was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Logan and volunteered at Hocking Valley Community Hospital.
She is survived by her son, William F. (Lisa Frett) Mowery of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter, Suzanne Stock (Robert) Lilley of Logan; grandchildren, Teresa S. (Robert) Heubner, Heidi B. Kuennen-Mowery, Heather L. (BJ) Fleming, Shawn (Krista) Stock and Stefanie (Trent) Sheridan; nine great grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leroy and Shirley Mowery of Lancaster and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Blanche was preceded in death by her brothers, Bruce and Kerwood Fickel; sister, Hilda Reeves and son-in-law, Dr. Stewart Stock.
A graveside service will be held 12 p.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, with Pastor Bud Myers officiating. Friends may call at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, on Monday, from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Blanche D. Mowery to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 258 E. Hunter St., Logan, Ohio 43138 or to the charity of your choice.
